97 Bloor Street Art Studio is located next door to the South Porcupine Library and just across the street from the South Porcupine Fire Hall. The studio cell no. is 705-221-5721, however if you are calling about registration please call 705-235-3482, leave a msg or email gayleballantyne@yahoo.com The Art Studio is open only for classes, prep-time, and viewing for the Ryan Gallery(by appointment only). The Art Studio is a colorful 3 room facility, including a waiting room , teaching room and the Ryan Gallery. Once a month we have a special event at the Gallery, In Feb. we will be involved in Winterfest. No regular classes will be held on that day however all registered students will attend free of charge. Registration fees are collected on a monthly basis. All programs are based on a month rotation. Each student is responsible to provide their own watercolor paper, paints, ink pens, and paper. All other supplies are available at the studio. Each fall and spring we have a student show. TBA WELCOME TO THE STUDIO |

The pen ink & watercolor program is designed for all age groups. Ink & water color is ideal for the natural world and our feather and furry friends. As with the watercolor program we learn about supplies, and study techniques in preparation to do a class project. This is a two part program as we also introduce watercolor painting. After the basic techniques are introduced we apply these to a class project. Each student will then work on their own chosen images. For the beginner or advanced student this is the program for you. Watercolor Painting is a wonderful flexible painting medium. Our program begins with learning about supplies and watercolor techniques. At the beginning of the program we paint a project as a group, but from thereon each student paints what is interesting to them. This program is very personalized. To lay out images in the watercolor program we use transfers for those who prefer not to sketch. Emphasis is on the painting skills. Therefore this program is very suitable. As we proceed to fine tune techniques, these techniques are applied to landscape painting, still life, and eventually the human portrait. Watercolor Painting is sometimes teamed up with Pen and Ink, this combination is very favourable. So no fear, watercolor painting is for those with little or no experience. |
