I have been producing Commission Watercolor Portraits for well over 25 years. Many people ask the same questions so I thought I would address these

How do I produce the image?  Generally I work from photos taken on site, some 20 or more, I like to determine the angle of the subject according to the light factor. Thus creating beautiful shadows. Notes are taken regarding details of the building. Some clients want to add or delete items. I also like to identify colors by using a fan deck. This is helpful when the painting process begins.

What size should be considered? If it is a property portrait, then an 11x14 is suitable. That would fit a 16x20 frame. For a single building an 8x10 is a suitable size.

What are the price ranges? These prices depend on many factors, so it is important to call to get an estimate.

Why do people have home or cottage portraits done?  Usually these custom ordered pieces are to commerate a special life event. Anniversay, retirement, graduation, wedding etc.

How can we share this image with other family members? Often I am asked to make copies or other novelty items from your original. It is great to be able to share this special memory with others.
